About Jason
Jason Crowell stands firm in the values that make Missouri great: faith in God, love of family, and the defense of freedom. His strong voice for leadership, integrity, and conservative values have made him a rising leader in both Jefferson City and Southeast Missouri politics.
Jason was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Terry and Terry Crowell. Jason's mother taught disabled children at Parkview State School for over 30 years. Jason's upbringing taught him the values of honesty and responsibility, as well as caring for the least among us.
Before graduating from Cape Central High School, Jason became an Eagle Scout. While working to become an Eagle Scout, Jason learned the values of hard work, community service, and integrity.

Jason attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and earned his B.S.B.A. in Economics in 1995. While in college Jason gained his first interest in politics when he went to Washington, D.C. to work in Congressman Bill Emerson's office. There Jason learned from Bill Emerson that being a leader and representing the people required hard work and an ability to listen to their concerns. He also served as Student Government President at Southeast Missouri State in 1994.
Jason then went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1998. Jason believes that public education is essential to a successful economic future in Missouri and should be the number one priority. In 1996, while in law school, he served as a judicial intern to Missouri Supreme Court Judge Ronnie White, and in 1997, served as a law clerk to Attorney General Jeremiah (Jay) Nixon.
In 2000, Jason Crowell was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives and represented the 158th district. After re-election in 2002 Jason was elected by his colleagues to be the Majority Leader. Jason used this position to fight for lower taxes, protect traditional marriage, and reign in out of control spending. In addition to his duties as majority floor leader, Senator Crowell chaired the Ethics Committee, the Rules Committee and the Subcommittee on Legislative Research Personnel.
After spending four years in the Missouri House, Jason was elected to the Missouri Senate, winning with a 34% margin. In the Senate, Jason has used his office to fight for our traditional family values. He has been on the front lines in the fight to cut taxes, expand job opportunities, and decrease government regulations. In his first year in the Senate, he earned the Chairmanship of the Committee on Pensions, Veterans’ Affairs and General Laws.
In addition, Senator Crowell supports Southeast Missouri’s interests on three other key committees: the Financial, Governmental Organizations and Elections Committee (Vice-Chair); the Gubernatorial Appointments Committee; and the Economic Development, Tourism and Local Government Committees.
Senator Crowell also serves on the board of the Missouri State Employees Retirement System (MOSERS), is a member of the Joint Committee on Public Employee Retirement, the State Retirement Consolidation Commission, Joint Committee on Legislative Research and the Joint Interim Committee on Missouri Health Care Stabilization Fund. Senator Crowell was also recently appointed to the Missouri Arts Council Trust Fund Board of Trustees.
While shuttling between Jefferson City and the 27th Senatorial district, Jason still finds time to be an active member of his community. Senator Crowell's community involvement includes serving on the board of directors of the Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence and on the University of Missouri Delta Center Advisory Board. Jason is a member of the Cape Girardeau Noon Lions Club, Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, Southeast Missouri State University Copper Dome Society and Booster Club, and the Missouri and Cape Girardeau Farm Bureau.
Along with his current service in the legislature, Senator Crowell is an attorney with the Cape Girardeau firm of Osburn, Hine, Kuntze, Yates, and Murphy, LLC and is licensed to practice law in Missouri, Arkansas, and Illinois.
